The Law is for All
one-page “Class A” inspired Comment, received by Crowley in
1925, has been added.
I wish to thank my friend Oliver Marlow Wilkinson, Louis
Wilkinson’s son, for his encouragement and support in seeing his
father’s work completed. Thanks are also due to Jack Parsons’
widow, the late Cameron, and Scott Hobbs, executor for Cam
eron and the Parsons estate, for the generous gift of the Wilkinson
typescript. Thanks are due to Richard W. Gernon ix° o.T.o.,
who bequeathed a typescript of the commentaries to the Order on
his death. Dr. W. F. Ryan of the Warburg Institute, University of
London, kindly made available early typescripts in the Yorke Col
lection that clarified many corrupted readings. I am very grateful
to Andrea Hoehn for facilitating our research in England, and to
Clive Harper for making available a copy of the 1926 “Extenua
tion” typescript. The Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center
at the University of Texas at Austin made available another type
script. Martin P. Starr, J. Daniel Gunther, Richard Kaczynski and
Adam Kessler addressed editorial questions, as did the project’s
proofreaders Kevin Ascherfeld, Randall Bowyer, and Robin
Mathews. Diana Molinari and William E. Heidrick performed the
data entry. Samuel Weiser, Inc. kindly provided films of the new
photography of the Stèle of Revealing and the ms. of The Book
of the Law from the Weiser edition of Crowley’s Magick (Book 4,
Parts I-IV). Christopher Hyatt and Nicholas Tharcher of New
Falcon Publications deserve thanks for honoring Crowley’s wishes
by issuing this edition. For his inspiration I would like to thank
Frater Altzba, the founder of 93 Publishing, who first published
Crowley’s commentaries over twenty years ago.
This popular edition was dear to Crowley’s heart. A full fifty
years have passed since it was first prepared for publication. In
the intervening years the commentaries have retained all of their
philosophical depth, and gained increasing relevance as they
anticipated so many of the burning social issues of our times.
Love is the law, love under will.
Hymenaeus Beta
Frater Superior, O.T.O.
