THE VOICE OF THE SILENCE
his “rewards” immediately transmute themselves into temp-
tations.
25. The name of the third Hall is Wisdom, beyond which
stretch the shoreless waters of AKSHARA, the indestruc-
tible Fount of Omniscience.
Akshara is the same as the Great Sea of the Qabalah. The
reader must consult THE Equinox for a full study of this
Great Sea.
26. If thou would’st cross the first Hall safely, let not thy
mind mistake the fires of lust that burn therein for the sun-
light of life.
The metaphor is now somewhat changed. The Hall of
Ignorance represents the physical life. Note carefully the
phraseology, “Let not thy mind mistake the fires of lust.”
It is legitimate to warm yourself by those fires so long as
they do not deceive you.
27. If thou would’st cross the second safely, stop not the
fragrance of its stupefying blossoms to inhale. If freed thou
would’st be from the Karmic chains, seek not for thy Guru
in those Méyavic regions.
A similar lesson is taught in this verse. Do not imagine
that your early psychic experiences are Ultimate Truth. Do
not become a slave to your results.
28. The WISE ONES tarry not in pleasure grounds of
senses.
This lesson is confirmed. The wise ones tarry not. That
is to say, they do not allow pleasure to interfere with busi-
ness.
